New Cruise Launching In Surprising U.S. Destination For First Time In Decades

You might not think hopping aboard a cruise ship without a passport is a smart idea, but it’s actually one of the latest travel trends — and continues to grow.

There’s no denying a trip to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, or even a grand adventure to Europe are phenomenal choices, but companies like American Cruise Lines take pride in showing off overlooked waterways right here in our own backyard.

Set to arrive in 2026, their latest destination is sure to be a shocker!

For the first time in decades, travelers looking to avoid long flights, yet still want to enjoy a multi-day excursion on scenic waters can book a cruise one of America’s prettiest lakes.

The Midwest and cruises may seem like they go together like oil and water at first glance, but once you’re riding on the vast Great Lakes, American Cruise Lines is certain you’ll forget about the far-flung paradises as you traverse charming harbor towns and vibrant blue lakes.

The American Cruise Lines Experience

Ever seen a mega-ship? One look at it can be overwhelming — especially, with the thought of all the bratty, obnoxious kids sharing the pool with you.

Think of American Cruise Lines as the anti-mega ship.

Offering cozier digs without the flash of casinos, screaming kids on waterslides, and still providing all-inclusive amenities without the party vibes.

As such, expect spacious rooms (for cruise standards), locally sourced, tailored food menus, and 24/7 hospitality — including free booze, so you can bring the party to you rather than attending a cheesy disco.

Better yet, gratuity is included too!

A trip with ACL feels more like a boutique hotel with attentive service than a massive resort on water, and the accolades speak for themselves.

According to their official website, “American Cruise Lines is the most awarded US River and Small Ship cruise line”.

A pre-cruise hotel stay is also included for all itineraries before boarding, so you can rest assured your trip is in good hands from the get-go.

The Great Lakes Welcomes First Cruise In Decades

No longer do travelers have to fly cross country to such places as San Diego or Miami to set sail for an epic cruise. If you did, that would be quite a wonky route to the Great Lakes.

Instead, travelers can set sail from the Midwest, which may sound odd, but according Charles B. Robertson, President and CEO of American Cruise Lines, “guests have long asked for our style of cruising on the Great Lakes”.

Adding, “we are now proud to offer these cruises as only American can, aboard a new small ship sailing 100% domestically”.

That’s right — no treks into the land of maple as all new Great Lakes adventures will stay in the U.S. of A.

According to TravelAge West, the “American Patriot” will host up to 130 guests on the following itineraries.
